Telomere Length Is Crucial to Longevity

With my patients and myself, I incorporate pterostilbene, a methyl group containing a form of the resveratrol molecule, whenever possible for general antioxidant benefits and also the ability to enhance chromosomal health, in particular telomere length. After all, size does matter when it comes to telomeres and bigger is better. Shortening of telomeres can lead to inability to optimally translate and code for the genes essential for proper cellular division and function. Protecting cells from unnecessary cellular stress and helping fortify their “prime function” of sustaining their roles in maintaining a healthy ecology within the body is of paramount importance.
Over the last few years we have heard of the many amazing applications related to resveratrol, in particular trans-resveratrol. When combined with pterostilbene, additional synergistic benefits are gleaned for strengthening chromosomes as well as other aspects of health.
